WAYNE, NJ – Less than 24 hours after the heart-breaking overtime loss to Stockton, the Roadrunners returned home to face Delaware for the third time this season. Home ice has been a safe-haven for Ramapo this season. They have won all six of their games. However, the winning streak was in jeopardy right from the outset of the game. Instead of coming out buzzing on all cylinders, they appeared to just be going through the motions. Delaware had the only score in the first period. The Roadrunners came out strong in the second and put up two goals to take the lead, 2-1. Bobby Spetz and Luke Campomenosi scored the Ramapo goals with Kyle DeBel (2) and Keith Doherty assisting on the goals. However, instead of taking a 2-1 lead into the locker room, sloppy play behind the Ramapo net led to a give-away and Delaware’s second goal with just 40 seconds remaining in the second period. The Blue Hens struck early in the third and took the lead at 5:03. Chris Dressler tied the score at 3 with an unassisted goal at 8:14. With Delaware on a power play, Keith Doherty put the Roadrunners into the lead 4-3 with a shorthanded goal just one minute after Dressler tied the score. DeBel and Spetz received assists. Good scoring opportunities by both teams were stopped by good goaltending. With two minutes remaining in regulation time, Delaware pulled their goalie. Derek Sabato fed Gary Ragusa who fired a perfect strike into the empty net at 19:46. That was an important win for the Roadrunners to stay near the top of the Atlantic Division when the rankings come out on Thursday. The next Ramapo game is 12/16 at 7:45 when Stockton travels up to Ice Vault. The Roadrunners are eagerly waiting to avenge the 4-3 overtime loss in Atlantic City the night before. That will be the final game before the winter break. Spring term games begin on January 19, 2019. Due to scheduling changes, the opponent will be named later. The Roadrunners final five games of the season will all be at home.
