MONSEY, NY – A scrappy Hofstra squad gave Ramapo an unexpected challenge in their second meeting of the season but weren’t able to topple the surging Roadrunners. Ramapo raised their season record to 10-0 defeating Hofstra 4-1.
The Pride took the ice looking like a completely different team than the Roadrunners had defeated 9-2 earlier in the season. Hard checking and aggressive play in the offensive zone throughout the first period kept Ramapo from scoring. Although the Roadrunners outshot the pesky Pride 16-7, the teams remained locked in a scoreless tie as they entered the locker room.
The Roadrunners started the second period with 40 seconds remaining on a power play carried over from the first period. Hofstra stunned the Roadrunners scoring a shorthanded goal at 22 seconds. Despite the setback Ramapo continued to play a disciplined and sound game, not taking single penalty the entire 60 minutes. Their efforts proved successful as Ryan Worth tied the score up at 5:23 with Ethan Puso and Andre Vicari earned assists.
Hofstra carried their improved game into the third period but it wasn’t enough to completely contain the Ramapo offense. The Roadrunners posted three unanswered goals in the final period to win the game 4-1; Dan Demarco unassisted at 3:04, Matt Rose assisted by Dmitry Danilchik and Kyle Debel at 8:11, and Zach O’Connor assisted by Demarco at 18:58.
