MONSEY, NY – The Roadrunners captured their fourth consecutive win in a close 4 – 3 match against the Suffolk County Community College Sharks.  The Roadrunners snapped Suffolk’s three game winning streak, handing them their only second loss of the season.

DJ Campbell, ’17, scored his first for the team less than two minutes into the opening period, earning his fourth goal in three games.  Gino Leocadi of the Sharks tried to get his team on the board but was stopped by a sprawling save by Keith Gay.  Ramapo doubled their lead with a goal by Dan Demarco, off a Keith Doherty assist.  Keith Gay ended the period with another key save to keep the score 2-0, this time easily stop a shorthanded breakaway attempt.

Josh Filipovits scored a third unanswered goal for the Roadrunners at 1:08 in the second.   Suffolk ended the period with a goal of their own.  The second period saw multiple penalties for both teams, including a roughing penalty for netminder Keith Gay.

The Sharks fought to decrease their deficit in early the third, driving hard to Ramapo’s net on a delayed penalty call, but Gay made another key save to maintain the lead.  Their second goal of the night came at 2:01 in the third.  Keith Doherty widened the gap once more, with Kyle Debel notching his second point of the night with the assist.  After scoring a third and final goal, Suffolk pulled their goalie in the dying seconds of the game while on the penalty kill, hoping to force overtime but Ramapo’s strong defense held them off to take the win.
